3 things:

1. I had a similar experience with a contract and the sense of relief that came after was shocking.

2. Those same raccoon drawings cheered me up during Covid lockdown. 🥲

3. Picking up Gumluck this weekend!

Oh, that's wild! Maybe we're eerily similar—do you also have one weird toenail that won't grow right ever since you dropped your phone on it?

I also love Lauren Pettapiece's critters! Between her drawings, and these Gumluck teasers, I'm feeling like I need to abandon the dayjob today and just draw for a few hours.

And my toenail issue is related to getting stepped on by someone wearing soccer cleats. In 1999. And it still grows weird.

Well THAT'S not encouraging. I only dropped the phone on mine a few months ago, and I've been hoping it'd sort itself out soon.

I love this sentence: "Like a fractal albatross, where if you looked close enough you’d see the albatross had a string on smaller albatrosses around its neck, and that those albatrosses had albatrosses."

Some words are just good, and I think albatross is one of them. The albatross was a ubiquitous denizen of Haleakalā.

I'm so curious which book you were working on, you've worked with so many amazing authors. (I LOVE MacAdam books) I'm enjoying Gumluck so far!

I’m a collection development librarian for children’s and young adult materials for a regional public library system in Virginia. Our copies of Gumluck arrived yesterday. I blazed through it at lunch. Nieces and nephews will undoubtedly be receiving copies of this book for upcoming birthdays. Thanks, Adam, for bringing this charming and hilarious gem into the world.
