Hey! What are Jon Klassen’s and Mac Barnett’s names—and to a much lesser extent, my name—doing in this Korean museum?
Well, more on that in a minute. First, I’m going to tell you about my NEW BOOK!
A LITTLE LIKE WAKING is a funny adventure-romance about a young woman who realizes her reality isn’t real—she’s a character in a dream, and she can’t even be sure she’s the one dreaming it. It’s a quest with a cute boy and witches and a talking cat and the Four Horsemen of the Physical Education Department. And it contains about 70 pages of illustrations:
I’m going out on tour for it, and I hope to be somewhere near you:
If not, but you know someone in Arizona, Colorado, California, Idaho, Washington, or Oregon who you think might be interested, I’d really appreciate you dropping them a line about it. You can learn more about the tour and preorder the book here.
So! Back to Korea.
My family loves Korea. This recent trip there was our third.
And by staggering coincidence our trip there happened to coincide with a show at the Hyundai Museum of Kids’ Books and Art on the books of Jon Klassen and Mac Barnett!
A whole show devoted to them! What an honor! By another complete coincidence, while I was in Korea I also happened to hear an interview with Jon about his new book on NPR. HA HA! I am happy for the success of my friends!
Anyway—This was a GREAT museum, and I wish I could show you more of it, but I’m about to run out of space. Suffice it to say, Mac’s section had subsections on some of his collaborators like Carson Ellis and Mike Lowery, and also me.
It was nice to see that sketchbook again.
As always, I’d love it if you mention this newsletter to a friend.
Best Wishes,
Adam
Your book looks amazing! Can’t wait to read it!
I’m jealous you got to see that show. Also, you know my family loves a brilliantly unhinged Adam Rex novel and we will for sure come see you in Beaverton. 🙌
